Tuffet Manual

Tuffet t2

WARNING

Skydiving is a dangerous activity which may result in injury or death, our tuffet is not designed to save life or prevent injury, it is intended for use only by suitably qualified parachutists engaged in the discipline of precision accuracy and it is intended to be used as an inflatable structure on which an automatic measuring device could be placed and for no other purpose.

We reserve the right to change, alter or modify any specification or detail of construction.

All dimensions are approximate due to the flexibility of the fabric used and manufacturing process during construction.

This owner’s manual is provided in the "English" language only; make sure you understand the meaning and implications of the manual. If you require a translation of this manual into another language please contact us.

Do not overload the tuffet; it is designed to enable a safe and soft landing for each individual parachutist landing on it. Once the parachutist has landed they should immediately leave the tuffet to clear the way for others.

NO liability is accepted for the use of our tuffet in any way, by using this tuffet you (the owner) accept full responsibility for all aspects of its use at all times.

CAUTION: This tuffet weighs 70KG and requires 2 adult persons to carry the load.

CAUTION: This tuffet is not allowed to be used as a children's play area.

SETTING UP INSTRUCTIONS

1. The tuffet is to be sited according to the instructions of the “FAI Event Judge” or the judge / person who deploys the tuffet; this person will consequently take full responsibility for the use of the tuffet.

Find the smoothest level place in the allocated area on grass, walk over the site and remove any debris or stones that may damage the inflatable tuffet.

2. Undo the travel and storage valise, roll out and unfold the tuffet.

3. Consider the prevailing wind line and place the tuffet so that the inlet tube is at a 90 degree angle to the wind line.

4. Attach the inflation tube to the fan unit.

5. Secure the inlet tube firmly to the fan unit.

6. Using one of the anchoring points provided, temporarily restrain the tuffet on the prevailing wind side with the anchors provided so that the tuffet cannot be disturbed by an unforeseen gust of wind or other external influence.

7. Fully inflate the tuffet and then control the volume of air within the tuffet by gradually opening the outflow zipper so as to achieve the optimum pressurisation within the tuffet for its intended use.

8. Ensure that the tuffet is fully anchored, NB in loose or sandy soil, or if you are uncertain, to secure the ground anchoring peg, use a fully filled sandbag placed on top of the ground anchoring peg so it cannot be pulled out of the ground.

9. The petrol engine exhaust is a Hot Area! Keep canopies and hands / fingers away from the exhaust outlet on the generator and ensure that the exhaust outlet is not handled by anyone, in any way during use.

10. The "Electric Fan Unit" is a cold unit, however, you must ensure that all electrical connections are waterproof;  Use of a 3 core, fully grounded electrical cable with suitable sockets for outside use and a residual circuit breaker device (not supplied) are mandatory.

11. Both the petrol fan and the electric fan units are water resistant; however as with any electrical appliance, both require protection from gross water contamination.

12. Do not attempt to float the tuffet on water; it is not designed for that purpose at all.

13. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the fan at all times.

14. Re-filling the petrol fan unit: .... Ensure that the engine and exhaust are cool to touch before refuelling; DO NOT attempt to refuel when the fan unit is in use.

15. The AMD cables can be routed inside the any one of the 4 cable covers and the pad tie down slings can be routed under the top surface of the tuffet.

   ttt

16. In the eventuality of rain, it is advisable to remove the AMD pad(s), deflate the tuffet and fold the tuffet in half over itself to prevent gross water infiltration.

17. Do not leave the tuffet outside for extended periods, it is best to protect it from extreme weather conditions, if it's not in use... pack it up.

After use of the tuffet,

If the tuffet has been exposed to rain or showers during use, make sure it is fully dry before storing.

Turn off the fan power supply,

Disconnect the inflation tube,

Allow the tuffet to fully deflate, cover the tuffet with the UV protective cover or continue to;

Remove the anchor stakes from the ground,

Fold the tuffet into a manageable size to fit the supplied valise,

Store it in the valise for transportation.

Ensure the petrol engine has cooled down for at least 10 minutes before moving it for transportation or storage, always ensure that the petrol engine is transported and stored in the upright position.

If the tuffet was not completely dry on the outside AND on the inside before final storage, inflate the tuffet inside a suitable dry building and keep inflated with the fan unit until fully dry.

Gross water infiltration may require you to inflate the tuffet and then invert it to allow the water to escape.

This owner’s manual is only intended as a guideline for its deployment and use!

You, as "the owner" have sole responsibility for the use and employment of this tuffet.

Minor Repairs

Minor repairs may be carried out using the PVC fabric and the adhesive supplied with the tuffet.

Cut the patch so it is 5cm larger than the area to be repaired.

Centre the patch over the area to be repaired and mark round it with a ball point pen.

Use an abrasive scouring pad to roughen both the contact surfaces.

Clean the area to be repaired with soap and water.

Carefully dry the area.

Apply a thin and even coat of the adhesive to both surfaces and leave to dry for 1 minute before bonding.

Align the surfaces carefully and when in place, press together.

Wait at least 1 hour before using tuffet, the adhesive will achieve full strength over 24 hours.

For any major repairs or a replacement top surface please contact texair@gmx.com for further details.
